For this personal project, I wanted to learn more about CAD and the types of joints and fasteners used in wooden fixtures. Throughout the project, I designed, laser cut, and assembled a box designed as a train station from my hometown, Richmond, VA. I experimented with five different joints and fasteners to see which ones I found the most effective and useful for future projects. I found finger joints and T-joints, as shown above, to be incredibly useful for joining pieces of wood together.
